A historic climate change meeting between Canadian Premiers went tremendously well, according to New Brunswick’s Green Party Leader David Coon.
Coon says this was the first time ever all the Premiers have gathered to discuss the need to move to a low carbon economy.
He says New Brunswick needs to build on the momentum generated at the Premiers’ Climate Change meeting.
“Whether it’s building highly efficient buildings, commercial or homes or retrofitting them, for example, we’ve got tremendous expertise in the province to do so,” says Coon.
He says we already have a trained workforce with the skills and resources available to take advantage of this opportunity.
Coon says going green isn’t just about the environment, but also job creation.
“When you’re talking about heading down the road to transform our society to one that uses less fossil fuel energy and more renewable energy then that reall is in the purview of economic development and job creation,” says Coon.
He adds what we need is the political will and vision to move in this direction in a comprehensive way.
