American Iron and Metal in Saint John is back in operation after being granted permission from the province to resume operations on a trial period of up to 90 days.
The Department of Environment and Local Government has accepted a revised plan from the company allowing them to restart operations right away.
A statement from Environment Minister Jeff Carr says the revised plan intends to address explosions and other issues at the west side facility.

The company has to ensure its operations are safe for the environment and for their neighbours.
Carr says they will continue to monitor their progress closely to ensure they live up to their commitments.
The company must address technical issues relating to the operation of the shredder including the installation, replacement of alternation of any equipment or thing at the facility necessary to eliminate explosions and impacts of excessive noise and vibration taking place.
American Iron and Metal must immediately stop operating if an explosion occurs.
The company must report any incidents to the Department of Environment and Local Government and the Saint John Fire Department and AIM can’t resume operations until all issues have been resolved to the satisfaction of both.
