As Canada prepares for the legalization of cannabis, 450 delegates from around the world are coming to Saint John to talk about the growing global industry.
The World Cannabis Congress starts Sunday and runs until Tuesday and features over 50 speakers, including chair of the Canadian Task Force on Cannabis Legalization Anne McLellan and comedian Chelsea Handler.
Derek Riedle of Civilized, which is presenting the event, says this is going to have a good footprint in Saint John.
“The size of our city and the intimacy of our uptown means that delegates will be spending a lot of time together,” says Riedle.
We’re excited to announce comedian, actress, writer, & TV host @chelseahandler will join the #WorldCannabisCongress as a keynote speaker on June 10-12. https://t.co/SsbsNrL4gI pic.twitter.com/Bdr4fj1114

“They will be enjoying our hospitality and our beautiful historic environment and I want them to partially fall in love with Saint John because we want to keep doing this on an annual basis.”
Riedle adds restaurant and bar owners are really excited to have the added business going into the summer months
