The provincial government has started a new legislative committee to focus on official languages.
Government House Leader Marco LeBlanc raised the importance of bilingualism for New Brunswick.
“As Canada’s only bilingual province, it is critical that New Brunswick examines and celebrates our two official languages,” said LeBlanc. “We will work closely with the Commissioner of Official Languages to ensure this.”
LeBlanc said government members are eager for the committee to start working on official language policies and programs.
Goals will soon be set, based on a report from Judge Yvette Finn and John McLaughlin.
