This year, you can help make a star shine at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
The hospital foundation has launched its annual Lights of Hope campaign to support priority needs at the Saint John facility.
For every $250 donated, a candle is lit in one of the hospital windows, and this year, the campaign introduces a special addition: 10 illuminated rooftop stars.
A star will shine atop St. Joseph’s for every 20 lit candles. The goal is to see 10 stars radiating a message of love and hope from the hospital’s skyline.
Andrea Scott, the foundation’s marketing and community relations coordinator, explains how important the visual aspect is for this year’s campaign.
“There’s one breathtaking Bethlehem star that’s five feet wide and 10 feet tall. We aim to light 200 candles and 10 stars, amounting to $50,000,” Scott said.
Scott mentioned the lights have been designed, constructed, and mounted by the dedicated St. Joe’s maintenance team, with lights sponsored by local Canadian Tire stores.
The campaign aims to raise $170,000 to fund a new wide-angle retinal camera for the St. Joseph’s Eye Clinic.
“The stars are an acknowledgment of the gratitude from St. Joseph’s Hospital foundation and all the people inside St. Joe’s,” Scott said.
Community members can support this initiative by donating via e-transfer, online, phone, or in person at the foundation office.
