A recent traffic enforcement initiative by the RCMP in southwestern New Brunswick has led to the issuance of 160 tickets and the towing of eight vehicles.
From September 19 to 21, the Tactical Traffic Enforcement Unit (TTEU) focused its efforts in the areas of Hanwell, Oromocto, and St. Stephen.
In total, officers issued 160 citations, with eight vehicles being towed under the New Brunswick Motor Vehicle Act.
Among these, 83 were for speeding, including 26 for exceeding the speed limit by more than 25 km/h.
Additionally, 77 tickets were issued for various other violations, such as 19 for vehicles lacking a current inspection certificate, 16 for expired registrations, 17 for not wearing seatbelts, and eight for using handheld electronic devices while driving.
The operation also resulted in the arrest of one person on outstanding warrants, two for impaired driving, and one for driving while prohibited, along with several warnings being issued.
The RCMP’s TTEU is committed to conducting regular and focused traffic enforcement across the province, to enhance road safety, educate drivers about traffic laws, and lowering the rates of serious injuries and fatal collisions.
