Special Olympics NB have announced Tuesday that the Western Valley Region will host THE 2025 summer provincial games.
The Event Co-Chair & SOWV Regional Coordinator stated that 250 athletes and coaches from 10 regions all across NB will compete in Athletics (track & field), Bocce, Golf, Softball and Swimming.
Debbi Graham also said the athletes will compete in the communities of Florenceville-Bristol, Hartland, Victoria Corner and Woodstock from July 17th to the 20th.
‘This is a great opportunity for anyone to come and witness these amazing athletes competing at this top provincial level of competition.” added Graham.
Officials revealed that the athletes and their coaches have been training for their sports since the previous provincial games occurred in Moncton in 2017.
“This summer of 2024, the athletes in all of the regions have been competing in regional competition to qualify for the provincials,” continued Graham.
“So going forward from provincials, athletes can then proceed onto national games and represent Team New Brunswick, and that will happen in 2026,
“From there, we have been fortunate in our region to have several athletes who have gone on to compete against 200 countries at the World Games,” added Graham.
Athletes train with the motto in mind: “Let me win, but if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt.”
