If you have an electric range from Samsung Canada, it could be part of a recall.
The company is recalling more than 326,000 units sold across the country since 2013.
Officials say humans and pets can accidentally activate the front-mounted knobs, creating a fire hazard.
The company has received over 57 reports of incidents in Canada and seven reports of injuries.
If your model is affected, you can contact Samsung Canada to get a free set of knob locks or covers.
In the meantime, ensure children and pets are kept away from the knobs, that objects are not left on the range when not in use, and check that the knobs are off before leaving home or going to sleep.
If you have a Wi-Fi enabled range, you can enable the “Cooktop On” notification on the Samsung SmartThings app to receive alerts on your smartphone when a cooktop burner is turned on.
