Several children have been removed from a Moncton residence following a report of child pornography, according to police.
RCMP said they received a report from the National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre last Wednesday of recent production of child pornography in Moncton.
Officers went to the home later that same day “after further investigation and confirming that children were at risk,” Mounties said in a news release.
“Upon their arrival, they located children, one of which was in relation to the initial report of production of child pornography,” said the release.
A woman was arrested at the scene without incident and the children were removed from the residence by the Department of Social Development.
Officers searched the home the following day and seized digital evidence in connection with the investigation.
“It was determined early in the investigation that we needed to locate this individual immediately as the safety of these children was at risk,” Cpl. Hans Ouellette said in the release.
The woman was later released under conditions and will appear in Moncton provincial court at a later date.
