From July 27 to August 2, cyclists rode across New Brunswick to help raise money for charity.
This event is part of the 12th annual HMCS Ride for Wishes, where a group of 10 crew members from HMCS Fredericton rode across the province seeking donations for the Make-A-Wish Canada New Brunswick Chapter, marking their first ride since the pandemic.
Kicking off in Campbellton, the event travelled over 550 kilometres in seven days, making stops in Bathurst, Miramichi, Moncton, Saint John and Oromocto before ending at Officers’ Square in Fredericton.
Make-A-Wish officials said the journey raised $43,074, which exceeded their goal by over $13,000, and will help fulfil the wishes of several children.
Chapter Director Sandi Hancox said more than 30 kids in New Brunswick await their transformative wishes.
“Thanks to the tremendous generosity and welcoming spirit of the New Brunswickers who supported the Ride for Wishes, many of these wishes will be coming true,” said Hancox.
“I also want to personally thank the 10 members of HMCS Fredericton who took part in Ride for Wishes. Their hard work and dedication to making wishes come true for kids with critical illnesses is nothing short of amazing.”
