The issued heat warning from Environment Canada (EC) still calls for very warm and humid conditions that continue to affect inland areas.
This includes Sussex, Kennebecasis Valley, and Kings County.
“A combination of very warm temperatures and elevated humidity will create high humidex values over the next several days. Temperatures are forecast to turn cooler over northwestern counties Saturday night and over remaining regions Sunday night,” said the EC statement.
Residents are urged by EC to check on elderly neighbours, family members, and friends multiple times a day. Verify that they are cool have water to drink, and never leave people inside a parked car, especially small children or pets.
When extremely high temperatures or high humidity are predicted to pose a higher risk of heat-related illnesses, such as heat exhaustion or stroke, a heat warning is issued.
The period extends from Saturday until Sunday, encompassing the southern regions of New Brunswick.
Highest daytime temperatures are expected to range from 28 to 30 degrees Celsius, with Humidex values projected to be between 37 to 39. However, EC anticipates that temperatures will be slightly lower in coastal areas. The lowest overnight temperatures will see the minimum temperature projected to be around 20 degrees Celsius.
