More Charlotte County residents now have access to ridesharing services.
Kari officially launched in Saint Andrews on Friday afternoon, just ahead of Canada Day.
The on-demand service allows users to request a ride through an app on their phone.
Chris Spear, CAO for the town, said it is starting off as a pilot project to gauge interest from the public.
“The hope will be that it’s another tool in our rural transportation struggles, and if it is successful enough, they may carry on,” Spear said in an email to our newsroom.
Riders can go anywhere in the region, as long as their rider starts or ends within the Saint Andrews municipal boundaries.
Matt McLeod, co-founder of Kari, said they are excited to expand their reach further into Charlotte County.
“St. Andrews represents the ideal blend of historical charm and modern-day tourism, making it a perfect location for Kari to bring ride-sharing,” McLeod said in a news release.
Kari is no stranger to Charlotte County. The Prince Edward Island-based service launched in St. Stephen in April.
Similar to Saint Andrews, residents and visitors in St. Stephen can use the service as long as their journey starts or ends in the municipality.
The company also plans to launch in St. George in the near future, according to its website.
