If you are working outdoors, plenty of water and breaks will be needed this week.
Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for the entire province from Tuesday through Thursday.
Temperatures as high as 35°C are expected for some regions, but it could feel closer to the low 40s with the humidity.
The lows at night will not be much better, ranging between 17°C and 24°C, according to Environment Canada.
Meteorologist Jill Maepea said it is not uncommon for New Brunswick to have heat waves this early in the year.
“We have seen heat waves in May, so it’s not out of the ordinary to have this heat wave,” Maepea said in an interview.
“What’s maybe a little bit remarkable about this one is it’s our first one and it’s actually quite intense for our first one.”
If you are looking for a bit of a reprieve, Maepea said temperatures will be cooler along the Fundy coast thanks to a southwest wind.
While these temperatures are much warmer than we usually see this time of the year, the meteorologist said we likely will not set any record.s
“At this time in 2020, June 18 and 19, we had a very similar pattern and we had all-time records broken,” said Maepea.
As the heat starts to break on Friday, Maepea said meteorologists will be tracking the potential for strong thunderstorms.
