It was a strong finish for the IWK Telethon on its 40th Anniversary.
To celebrate the milestone, the IWK foundation hosted an entire ‘inspirational’ weekend of giving and fundraised $7,582,999.32, for the first time in its history.
The foundation says it will go toward much-needed funds for the IWK to purchase equipment, education, research and innovation, while patients shared stories of the last 40 years.
“This year donors helped to purchase essential pieces of equipment for comfort and critical care including sleeper chairs for the IWK’s Birth Unit and a microscope for eye examinations in the IWK Emergency Department.”
The Radiothon was Friday, the Live Tribute Show Saturday, and the Telethon for Children was Sunday.
The IWK is the largest children’s hospital in the region.
