The 31st edition of the 50+ Plus Friendship Games kicks off in Saint John next week
Chairperson Coral Field says the ceremony starts at the uptown Boardwalk with a parade march to City Hall for a flag raising, followed by the opening ceremonies at The Hope Centre.
Field also says the event helps people connect with old friends and make new ones.
“It gets them out of their house to have companionship with other seniors and enjoy themselves. You hear a lot of laughs during that week of participation,” said Field.
Participants of all ages from around the Saint John region will compete in events such as disc golf, shuffleboard, 45’s, crib, darts, and swimming.
The closing banquet awards will be on June 8 at Royal Canadian Legion Branch 69 followed by a dinner and dance.
Applications are still available for $40 at the Seniors’ Resource Centre (third level of Brunswick Square) or the Customer Service Centre at City Hall.
The deadline to submit applications is this Friday, May 24.
