Another New Brunswicker has scratched and is now Set for Life.
Miramichi resident Geraldine Botterill bought four Set for Life tickets.
She scratched two on Tuesday, and two on Wednesday, but the last ticket was the lucky one. It revealed the top prize, three Set for Life symbols.
Botterill took the ticket back to the store to validate, and sure enough it was a winner.
She could barely believe what she was seeing, “I started crying and hyperventilating and I called my brother and said, ‘I think I just won Set for Life. I didn’t come down off the ceiling all day.”
She opted for the lump sum payment of $675,000 instead of the $1000 a year for 25 years.
Plans for her winnings include upgrades to her home, purchasing a new car, planning a vacation
or two and enjoying financial security for the rest of her life.
Botterill works remotely part-time for a consulting company based in British Columbia. While she loves her work and has no intentions of retiring, she says she now has the comfort of knowing she can when she eventually chooses to.
She also plans to throw a big celebration party for the win.
“I’m going to throw a huge party for all my friends,” Botterill said. “I like sharing. It’s really nice to
have the win but if you can’t share it with people around you, what’s the point?”
Botterill is the second New Brunswicker to win a Set for Life top prize in just one week, along with
Kim Campbell of Fredericton who also took the lump sum payment of $675,000.
