Charges have been laid after a police operation in South Tetagouche that lasted more than 14 hours.
RCMP was called to a home on Highway 180 on Tuesday morning after a man reportedly barricaded himself inside and was making threats with a gun.
Residents were asked to stay in their homes, as police cordoned off the area.
The New Brunswick RCMP emergency response team, crisis negotiators, police dog services, and a remotely piloted aerial system operator also attended the scene.
After negotiating until around 8:45 pm, officers got into the home and arrested the man.
Police searched the residence and seized a loaded and unsecured shotgun and a loaded and unsecured rifle.
A 26-year-old North Tetagouche man is charged with possession of a firearm while prohibited.
