A late winter storm is expected to bring a mixed bag of weather to southern New Brunswick mid-week.
Special weather statements have been issued by Environment Canada warning of rain, freezing rain, ice pellets, and snow.
“Precipitation will begin as rain late Wednesday and change to a mix of freezing rain and ice pellets Wednesday night,” said the statement.
“The precipitation is expected to change to snow early Thursday over most regions.”
Rainfall amounts between 25 and 50 millimetres are expected, with the highest amounts along the Fundy coast.
Between five and 15 millimetres of freezing rain could fall, particularly between the Kennebecasis Valley and the Petitcodiac River.
Snowfall and ice pellet amounts could reach up to 25 centimetres, with the highest amounts expected in southeastern New Brunswick.
“Moderate to strong” northeasterly wind gusts are also expected with this system, said Environment Canada.
“Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada,” said the agency.
