Saint John police are seeking witnesses after a firearm was discharged during a weekend disturbance.
Officers were called to a disturbance outside of a home in the 100 block of King Street East around 3:20 a.m. Saturday.
“It was alleged that a shot was fired during the disturbance resulting in a number of people and at least two vehicles fleeing the area, including a white Volkswagen Jetta and a Black Nissan Versa,” police said in a news release.
Police located and stopped the Nissan Versa nearby. Four people inside were taken into custody and officers seized a loaded handgun.
A 26-year-old woman and a 22-year-old man were arrested for possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, discharging a firearm, careless use of a firearm, and unauthorized possession of a firearm.
They were both released from custody with a court date in May, according to the release.
A 21-year-old woman, who was found to be on parole, was arrested and returned to jail for breaching the conditions of her release.
The fourth person, a 19-year-old man, was released without any charges at this time.
“No physical injuries were reported to police,” said the release.
Detectives are looking to speak with witnesses, including the occupants of the Volkswagen Jetta.
