Don’t put away your shorts and sandals just yet!
We will have a warm and sunny start to October that will feel more like summer than fall.
The Weather Network says a high-pressure ridge has enveloped the Maritimes for the past week, making it possibly the warmest start to October on record, with the hottest stretch of weather coming up.
“There are a couple of factors driving the warmth we’re experiencing, including a stubborn, high-pressure system across the U.S. that’s sandwiched between two cut-off upper lows. This pattern is called an “omega block,” which causes a blockage in the atmosphere. Essentially, what we’re seeing is what we’re getting.”
The national forecaster is calling for temperatures hovering near the low twenties with clear conditions this long weekend stretching through to next week.
October's arrival across much of Ontario, Quebec & the Maritimes will defy Autumn's cool, crisp air & feel more like a return to Summer heat! If you have already put your shorts & sandals away, for goodness sake, go dig them back out! @weathernetwork pic.twitter.com/y300kyL6G7
