Do not be surprised to see people in orange vests over the coming days.
The 2023 resident moose hunt in New Brunswick begins on Tuesday.
Officials said there were 5,115 licenses up for grabs in this year’s moose draw.
That was the highest number since 1995, according to Natural Resources Minister Mike Holland.
Provincial officials are reminding people to keep safe hunting practices top of mind.
That includes wearing hunter orange when you are out in the woods.
Officials also remind hunters to have their licence with them and to ensure they are hunting in their zone at the correct time.
Hunting season runs through Saturday and harvested moose must be registered no later than noon on Sunday. Registrations can be completed online or at a moose registration station.
Moose hunters must collect a tooth from their harvested animal and deliver it to a Department of Natural Resources and Energy Development officer during regular business hours within 14 days of online registration.
Hunters must bring their printed, signed registration permit for validation with the tooth delivery.
