A Saint John man is facing four charges after police say a stolen vehicle was recovered east of the city.
It all started Monday morning when Mounties were conducting a traffic enforcement operation on Route 111 in Willow Grove.
RCMP say an approaching vehicle turned around just before the stopping point and the driver fled in a “dangerous manner.”
“The vehicle was located a few moments later after leaving the road and crashing off the Base Road in Garnett Settlement,” RCMP said in a news release on Friday.
There was no sign of the driver and police determined the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Saint John.
Later that same day, police responded to a report of a suspicious person, who was identified as being the same man from the earlier incident.
A 37-year-old man has been charged with motor vehicle theft, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from police, and driving with a suspended licence.
