A major tourism investment has been announced for the community of Fundy-St. Martins.
It is receiving a combined $1.1 million in funding from the provincial and federal governments.
The money will help construct an amphitheatre and revitalize the community lighthouse visitor information centre.
Officials say the enhancements will also address traffic safety issues and improve accessibility in the area.
“Tourism is growing in the Fundy-St. Martins region and it is projects like this that will allow us to continue to deliver a grade A experience for our visitors,” Mayor Jim Bedford said in a news release.
Tourism has become a key catalyst for economic growth in the community which has a population of around 5,200 people.
The provincial government is investing $480,000 through the Regional Development Corporation and the federal government is contributing $620,000 through the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency.
