Four people were taken to the hospital after an alleged altercation in Saint John late last week.
Police responded to the Taylor Avenue and MacLaren Boulevard area around 2:05 p.m. Friday.
“It was alleged that several people had been stabbed,” police said in a news release on Sunday.
When officers arrived, they learned there had been an altercation between two groups of people known to each other.
Four men aged 22 to 41 years old were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police. One remained in the hospital as of Sunday.
Police arrested four men between the ages of 19 and 24 and one 16-year-old youth for various assault and weapons-related offences.
They were all released on undertakings, including no contact conditions, and will appear in court at later dates.
Investigators want to speak with anyone who witnessed the incident or who has video surveillance or cell phone video.
