Four people are in custody after a police operation on Saint John’s lower west side, according to police.
Officers responded to a report of shots fired inside a building on Duke Street West around 3:30 p.m.
Police shut down the street between Ludlow Street and Market Place and told people to stay away.
“Residents in this block are asked to remain inside,” police said in a news release at 4:25 p.m.
Several officers, including the force’s Emergency Tactical Services, were focused on a three-storey building.
In an update around 6:20 p.m. Tuesday, police said the operation had concluded and no one was hurt.
“There will be a continued police presence in the area, while Major Crime continues to investigate,” said an updated news release.
No word on whether the four people in custody will be facing charges. Police said more details will be released “at a later date.”
