Anthony Stella has been promoted to general manager of the Saint John Sea Dogs.
The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League team made the announcement on Thursday.
“I’m incredibly proud to accept the role as General Manager of the Sea Dogs,” Stella said in a news release.
“Next year I will be entering my 10th season with the organization and have been lucky to have grown and developed over that time.”
Stella first joined the Sea Dogs in the 2014-15 season, starting as a scout and progressively taking on more responsibilities and senior roles.
He was promoted to director of player development in 2016-17 before being named assistant general manager and head scout the following season.
“Anthony is determined, loyal, and committed to his craft. He has been an important part of our team for a long time and we are proud to promote him,” president Trevor Georgie said in the release.
“We have worked side by side for the past seven seasons and I look forward to continuing to work together and watching him take this next step in his career.”
The change comes just days after Georgie announced he was stepping back from the general manager role.
On Monday, Georgie was named president and CEO of JSM Sports Entertainment (JSMSE). It is the parent company of Saint John Major Junior Hockey Club Ltd., which owns the Sea Dogs.
Georgie will continue to serve as Sea Dogs president and provide strategic direction for the organization.
