Thousands of students across southern New Brunswick are getting another storm day on Monday.
All schools in the Anglophone South and Anglophone East school districts are closed due to the weather.
Most Francophone South School District schools are also closed, except for those in Baine-Sainte-Anne, Miramichi, Saint-Louis-de-Kent, Richibucto and Rogersville.
Several post-secondary institutions also closed for the day Monday due to the inclement weather.
The University of New Brunswick said its Saint John campus would remain closed for the day.
The Mount Allison University campus is also closed. Classes, labs and other events held on campus are cancelled.
In addition, l’Universite de Moncton campus is closed and all activities are cancelled. Students should consult with their course syllabus or teacher to find out if their class will be held.
CCNB’s Dieppe campus is also closed for the day. Classes will be held virtually and students are asked to connect to the online training platform to find out about training arrangements.
New Brunswick Community College has also closed its campuses in Saint John, Saint Andrews and Moncton. Classes will continue virtually.
Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for southern New Brunswick, including:
- Fredericton and Southern York County
- Fundy National Park
- Grand Lake and Queens County
- Grand Manan and Coastal Charlotte County
- Kent County
- Kouchibouguac National Park
- Moncton and Southeast New Brunswick
- Oromocto and Sunbury County
- Saint John and County
- St. Stephen and Northern Charlotte County
- Sussex – Kennebecasis Valley and Kings County
Forecasters said between 15 and 25 centimetres of snow is expected by the time it ends Tuesday morning.
The snow could change to or mix with ice pellets or freezing rain for a time on Monday before changing back to snow Monday night.
“Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. There may be a significant impact on rush hour traffic in urban areas,” said the weather agency.
Grand Manan will see lesser amounts of snow as they are expecting rain throughout the day Monday before a changeover to snow and ice pellets Monday evening.
