Two Fredericton men have been charged in a double shooting that prompted an emergency alert to be issued.
RCMP and the Fredericton Police Force responded to a report of shots fired on Leafwood Drive in the Hanwell and Pine Grove Mini Home Community around 4:30 a.m. last Friday, Dec. 2.
Two people were taken to the hospital with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
Mounties issued an Alert Ready message around 10:45 a.m., saying the “armed and dangerous” suspects were last seen in the Oromocto area in a blue Honda Civic.
At around 12:15 p.m., police said they located the vehicle off Route 2 in the Longs Creek area, southwest of Fredericton, and arrested a 22-year-old man at the scene.
Blake Holt faces eight charges in connection with the incident, including:
- Possession of a firearm for a dangerous purpose
- Flight from police
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Possession of a restricted firearm
- Possession of property obtained by crime
- Theft under $5000
- Possession of a firearm
- Failure to comply with a release order
Mounties say a 41-year-old man was arrested in Fredericton on Tuesday, Dec. 6, in connection with the investigation.
Jesse Joe is charged with assault with a weapon, pointing a firearm, uttering threats, and robbery.
Both men have been remanded into custody pending their next court appearances.
