Canadians will gather on Friday to acknowledge the courage and sacrifice of those who served their country.
Remembrance Day ceremonies large and small will take place in cities and towns across New Brunswick.
This year will mark the return of traditional Remembrance Day events in many of those communities.
Over the last two years, many ceremonies were cancelled or adjusted due to pandemic measures.
Saint John
The traditional Remembrance Day ceremony at TD Station returns for the first time since 2019.
Community members are asked to be seated no later than 10:15 a.m. and the service begins at 11 a.m.
On the east side, there will be a ceremony at Jervis Bay Ross Memorial Park (Graham Street) at 11 a.m.
There will be two separate services on the west side. The first will take place at the Field of Honour, Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery (1650 Manawagonish Road) at 9 a.m.
A second ceremony at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 69 Cenotaph (750 Manawagonish Road) will take place at 11 a.m.
In the north end, there will be a wreath laying at the memorial in Public Gardens (48 Seely Street) at 1 p.m.
Kennebecasis Valley
Also returning this year is the traditional Kennebecasis Valley Remembrance Day Parade and Ceremony at the qplex.
Doors will open at 9 a.m. with the ceremony beginning at 10:30 a.m. All those planning to attend are asked to be in the building and seated by 10:15 a.m.
An informal volunteer-led ceremony will take place at the Cenotaph on the Rothesay Common at 10:45 a.m.
Grand Bay-Westfield
The Royal Canadian Legion Bayview Branch 22 will hold a service at the Veterans Peace Park (Cenotaph), located across from the Canada Post office at the intersection of Woolastook Drive and River Valley Drive.
Attendees are asked to arrive by 10:15 a.m. The service will also be livestreamed on the legion’s Facebook page.
Woolastook Drive between River Valley Drive and Highland Road will be closed to all traffic from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.
Hampton
The Royal Canadian Legion Hampton Branch 28 will hold a service at the Cenotaph (808 Main Street) at 10:30 a.m.
Sussex
The Royal Canadian Legion Sussex Branch 20 will hold its annual service at the Cenotaph downtown starting at 10:55 a.m.
The parade will form up in front of Moffett’s Hardware at 10:30 a.m. and march off at 10:45 a.m.
Saint Andrews
A Remembrance Day ceremony will take place at All Saints Anglican Church Hall (77 King Street).
Attendees are asked to arrive by 10:30 a.m.
St. Stephen
The Royal Canadian Legion St. Croix Branch 9 will hold a ceremony at the Cenotaph on Milltown Boulevard.
A ceremony will also take place at the Milltown Cenotaph at the corner of Queensway Way and Church Street around 11 a.m.
