The Saint John Alpines are the New Brunswick Senior Baseball League champions.
The Alpines edged the visiting Fredericton Royals 2-1 in game five of the best-of-seven series at Memorial Field on Saturday night.
Fredericton tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the 7th inning. Pinch runner Zach Allain scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh.
Jay Johnson picked up the win as the Alpines won the series four games to one.
The Alpines are league champs for the first time since 2001 and are eligible to represent New Brunswick at the nationals next August in Red Deer, Alberta.
