City crews in Saint John are gearing up for the potential impacts of hurricane Fiona.
The Saint John Emergency Management Organization (SJ-EMO) wants residents to prepare for heavy rainfall and severe wind gusts.
In a news release Thursday, the city said crews are preparing trucks with road barricades and signage in the event of flooding.
They will also continue to inspect major catch basins and drainage gutters across the city, said the release.
“The SJ-EMO will monitor the weather and respond if necessary,” said the city.
You can help the city by clearing catch basins and gutters near your home from any obstructions, if possible.
It is also a good idea to tie down or move any loose items that are on your property.
City officials said drivers should observe any barricades and avoid driving through areas that are covered in water.
Residents should also prepare a 72-hour emergency kit.
