Saint John Sea Dogs fans will have to wait a bit longer for regular season play to begin.
On Wednesday, the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League announced it had postponed five games scheduled for this weekend “to ensure the safety of its players, staff, fans and officials.”
It comes as much of the Maritimes prepare for the impacts of hurricane Fiona.
Among the games postponed is Saturday’s home opener for the Sea Dogs against the Acadie-Bathurst Titan.
QMJHL officials also postponed two games on Friday — Charlottetown versus Halifax and Moncton versus Cape Breton — along with Saturday’s game between Halifax and Charlottetown, and Sunday’s game between Moncton and Cape Breton.
The league said the games will be rescheduled at a later date.
With Hurricane Fiona set to hit the East Coast this weekend, we've postponed some games to ensure everyone's safety. #QMJHL
