The Sea Dogs will travel to Fredericton for all of their pre-season games.
The defending Memorial Cup champions will play their pre-season games at the Aitken Centre.
The first game is against the Moncton Wildcats at 7 p.m.
President and General Manager of the Saint John Sea Dogs, Trevor Georgie, mentioned there are plenty of new faces on the 2022-23 roster.
“There are lots of guys including Jérémie Richard from Moncton, and several 17-year-olds from last year who could have played on a QMJHL roster but we just didn’t have room given the age of our team.”
Some of the players Georgie mentioned fans should watch for include, Forwards Vince Elie, Cole Burbidge, and their two European players Pavel Simek, and Eriks Mateiko.
“Mateiko is a 6’4″ Latvian player, and he has played under 18 hockey even though he is just 16 years old… so certainly a lot of guys for our fans to watch and following along with their journey.”
For the 2022-23 season, the Sea Dogs will have a new captain as Defenceman Vincent Sévigny has signed with the Bridgeport Islanders who are the AHL affiliate for the New York Islanders.
Georgie added the team has not decided who will be captain but believes it will be one of their returning veterans.
“We’ll certainly have good options, especially with the rich experience that these guys had last season, and it will be great for them too to pass that on to the young group.”
