A joint inland water patrol by Richibucto RCMP, the New Brunswick Justice and Public Safety Department, and the Quebec RCMP Marine Security Enforcement Team this month led to seventeen tickets, six of which were positive.
Officers were out on Miramichi Inner Bay and the Richibucto River area on August 6th and 7th.
A total of 128 boats were stopped, according to police.
Eleven tickets and 49 warnings were handed out, for not having the appropriate documentation or safety equipment, such as Personal Flotation Devices, sound-signaling devices and buoyant heaving lines.
Officers also conducted 11 breath test demands by an Approved Screening Device, indicating there were no impaired boat operators on the water.
Six positive tickets were given to youth for wearing their personal floatation devices.
