A severe water shortage in the Village of Alma has forced staff to enforce water restrictions and issue a boil order.
A notice from Mayor Andrew Casey said both advisories went into effect Thursday night after staff had been in contact with the Department of Health.
“This BOIL WATER ADVISORY and WATER RESTRICTION is in effect until further notice,” said Casey in the notice posted to social media.
The Department of Health is telling residents to boil their water for one minute before consuming it, including for mixing juice, dental hygiene, washing vegetables, making ice, or any other activity involving human consumption.
Baby formula should also be mixed with bottled water, and young children should be given sponge baths to avoid ingestion.
Casey says updates on both advisories will be made available on the village’s website.
