Brands like Lays, Ruffles, Doritos and others some of the products under the Frio-Lay Canada name that weren’t getting shipped. It’s expected that more Loblaw retailers (Superstore, No Frills and others) will have the products back on the shelf by the long weekend.
According to Stats Canada, food prices rose by 7.4 per cent year over year in February. That’s the largest increase since May 2009.
Other food increases saw meat rise by almost 12 per cent, close to 17 per cent for beef and 10 for chicken. Dairy and eggs also climbed by just under 7 per cent this year.
