When students return from March break, COVID-19 restrictions will have been lifted.
Masks and physical distancing will no longer be a requirement as of March 14th.
President of the New Brunswick Teachers Association Connie Keating says this is drawing a mixed reaction from teachers, “Some teachers are feeling ready to see the lifting of restrictions and have been for some time, they’re excited, while we have others who are very concerned about the changes.”
She says, “We’re not really sure what normal is. We’ve been walking through this COVID period for a couple of years now. I absolutely believe this is going to be a significant transition.”
Keating says it is important a level of respect is maintained for those who are still concerned about the virus and make the choice to continue to wear a mask and follow other restrictions, “The key is for everyone is kind and respectful, collaborating on solutions and joint problem solving with teacher organizations. It needs to be a priority for government in order to face challenges that lie ahead.”
