The Ukrainian Club of Moncton has been overwhelmed with support since the Russian invasion began.
Hundreds of donations of humanitarian items were received over the weekend.
But Club President Julia Khalack says they were only able to ship a small share of what they got, “Our current concern is to find the means of transportation. We are looking at how to send the donations from Moncton to Europe. Quite a lot of logistics there. We envision in the next few days, we will also be looking at the place to store as well.”
She also asks that anyone trying to contact the Club be patient, “If you are trying to reach the Ukrainian Club of Moncton, please be patient with us. We are shorthanded.”
Khalack adds the easiest way to help, is by making a monetary donation.
“More effective to give a monetary donation, because items take at least a week to ship to Ukraine, Money, on the other hand, can be shipped directly to Europe, probably Poland and it will be there much faster,” Khalack says.
The Club is also encouraging New Brunswickers to shop at Ukrainian-owned businesses because they have the ability to donate directly to those in need.
