Driving conditions will be impacted by the winter storm set to hit New Brunswick over the weekend.
The province’s Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DTI) is urging caution to drivers.
“We strongly encourage people not to be out on roads during the storm … people have to remember road conditions do deteriorate quite quickly during an event like this,” said Communications Director for DTI, Mark Taylor.
However, if an individual needs to travel over the weekend due to work, or an urgent obligation, Taylor mentioned those drivers need to plan and allow extra time to get to a destination.
“As well, keep on top of what the current situation is, and a great tool to do just that is NB511 that’s our tool that can be accessed online and via phone.”
Snowplow crews have started to prepare for the weather event and will plow roads based on priority, beginning with highways.
“Highways are our priority based on the fact they are where the majority of vehicles travel, and after that, we quickly make our way to other roadways according to traffic levels,” added Taylor.
