Health officials in New Brunswick announced there are 126 people in hospital with COVID-19 as of Sunday.
Intensive care unit patients dipped to 10, with six people on a ventilator. Of those currently hospitalized, 74 were admitted for reasons other than COVID-19.
Public Health reported two more people who were positive for the virus have now died. The death of a person in their 80s from the Moncton zone and a person in their 70s from the Bathurst region brings the province’s total COVID-19 linked deaths to 209.
The province announced 545 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, based on PCR test results. Following 213 recoveries from the virus, the known active caseload stands at 5,265.
Of the new cases reported on Sunday, 247 are in the Moncton region and 121 are in the Saint John region.
Additionally, 584 new rapid test positives have been reported to the province.
As of Sunday, 91.7 percent of the eligible population has received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, and 83.7 per cent have rolled up their sleeves for a second dose.
To date, 62.3 per cent of the eligible population of people 50 and older have received their booster dose.
