The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DTI) is urging drivers to check the weather and plan any necessary travel accordingly.
DTI spokesperson Mark Taylor says if conditions become too severe, drivers should stay off the roads.
He adds roads are closed for safety reasons and DTI is constantly in touch with plow operators for updates.
“During the last storm, the weather became so severe that it wasn’t safe to keep our operators on the road. So once we hit that particular point in a storm that plays a key factor on when we decide to close a roadway.”
If you must travel, Taylor reminds drivers the NB 511 system is a good source for highway conditions which is accessible online or with an app on your mobile phone.
