Six health centres in the Saint John region will be temporarily closed for part of the holiday season.
Horizon Health says staff are being redeployed to help at vaccination clinics and COVID-19 assessment centres.
Jean Daigle, vice-president community at Horizon, said the decision comes “amid a growing surge in demand caused by the recent rise in COVID activity.”
The Uptown Saint John Health Centre closed on Monday and will reopen on Jan. 4.
The North End Wellness Centre and Market Place Wellness Centre will be closed Dec. 20, 22, 23, 29 and 31.
The H.O.P.E. Wellness Centre will be closed Dec. 20, 22 and 29, while the Charlotte County Wellness Centre will be closed on Dec. 23.
The Saint John Sexual Health Centre will not be accepting walk-in appointments on Dec. 23.
“Patients will be contacted to reschedule their appointments,” said Daigle, adding they are working with the nurse practitioners to ensure urgent cases can be seen as needed.
