A new transportation service serving a large section of southern New Brunswick opened for business in October.
Dial A Ride-Fundy Regional Transportation is currently only providing transportation for medical and food security appointments because of the pandemic.
Founder Annie Dunn said interest in this service has been positive so far.
“We have a waitlist of people who are excited to be able to take advantage of this for possible employment opportunities, education opportunities,” Dunn said.
Dunn explained how the service works.
“Clients need to pre-register. We need a minimum of 48 hours advance [notice] Monday to Friday. It gives us time to reach out to one of our volunteers to see who can take the call,” Dunn said.
It costs 41 cents a kilometre. All funds raised are shared among the drivers to reduce fuel costs.
The number is 609-RIDE (7433).
The Dial-A-Ride service area includes from Lepreau to Sussex and the Cambridge Narrows along with Hampton, Saint John, Grand Bay-Westfield and all the rural communities in between.
