Canada’s border will be closing to unvaccinated athletes in the new year.
Public Safety Minister Marco Mendicino announced the mandatory vaccine rules on Friday.
The move will include both professional and amateur athletes starting on January 15th.
Currently, an exemption is in place for unvaccinated players in the NBA, NHL, MLB and MLS.
It allows them to travel into Canada for games under strict restrictions.
Across the major leagues, vaccination rates are above 90 per cent for players.
