I recently heard a song by the group Buffalo Springfield and with all that’s happening in our world specifically with the rise in violence, conspiracy theories, climate change and a lifesaving vaccine being politicalized I think the lyrics really hit home.
There’s something happening here
But what it is ain’t exactly clear
There’s a man with a gun over there
Telling me I got to beware
There’s battle lines being drawn
Nobody’s right if everybody’s wrong
Young people speaking their minds
Getting so much resistance from behind
What a field day for the heat
A thousand people in the street
Singing songs and they carrying signs
Mostly say, “Hooray for our side”
Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life it will creep
It starts when you’re always afraid
Step out of line, the men come and take you away
It’s time we stop
Hey, what’s that sound?
Everybody look, what’s going down?
This song written by Stephen Stills and released in 1966(over 50 years ago) by Buffalo Springfield. Is it a case of “The more Things Change The More They Stay The Same”. It’s easy to see that much of our society has not evolved but has devolved.
