New Brunswick RCMP is seeking dash-cam footage after a shooting on the Trans-Canada Highway (Highway 2) near Nackawic last week.
On November 5, at around 9:20 a.m., two peace officers from the Department of Justice and Public Safety were conducting enforcement patrols in the area of Temple Road and Highway 2.
Police say the officers saw a small four-door dark grey or silver car exit Temple Road and start to drive in the wrong direction along Highway 2 at a high rate of speed.
The driver of the vehicle then entered the emergency turnaround and proceeded to drive in the right direction.
When the peace officers tried to pull up beside the car, police say a passenger in the back seat discharged a firearm, striking the passenger side window and the driver’s headrest of the peace officers’ vehicle. One peace officer suffered minor injuries.
The car then turned around on the highway and was last seen driving the wrong way in the eastbound lanes.
Police describe the driver as a man in his early-20s, wearing a black ball cap and dark lensed glasses, however, there is still no description of the other two passengers in the vehicle.
Investigators are looking to speak with anyone who was on Highway 2 between kilometres 212 and 227 between 8:45 and 9:45 a.m. that morning, particularly anyone with dash-cam or other footage in the area.
