Conservative leader Erin O’Toole has named the members of his shadow cabinet.
Tuesday’s announcement came less than two weeks before parliament is set to resume.
“Pierre Poilievre will serve as shadow minister for finance and middle class prosperity, Michelle Rempel Garner as the shadow minister for natural resources, Dan Albus as the shadow minister for environment and climate change,” O’Toole said.
Former Conservative leader Andrew Scheer will be the shadow minister for infrastructure and communities.
Meanwhile, Manitoba MP Candice Bergen has once again been named deputy Conservative leader.
Two New Brunswick MPs will be part of the Conservative shadow cabinet.
Rob Moore will serve as shadow minister for Justice and Attorney General of Canada. It is a role the veteran MP for Fundy Royal also held during the last Parliament.
Jake Stewart, who represents Miramichi-Grand Lake, will serve as shadow minister for national revenue. This is Stewart’s first foray into federal politics after spending a decade as an MLA.
O’Toole said his party is committed to being a strong voice for the middle class.
“We will ensure that Canadians who are worried about rising living costs know that we have their back in Ottawa. We will fight for those who are fearing they will need to turn to food banks and other services to make it through the month,” he said.
MPs will return to the House of Commons on Nov. 22.
