The rank and file in the Kennebecasis Valley have a new chief.
Steve Gourdeau has been appointed the new chief of the Kennebecasis Regional Police Force.
The Roberval, Que., native spent 33 years with the RCMP serving in Manitoba, New Brunswick, and overseas as a peacekeeper in the former Yugoslavia.
Gourdeau retired from the RCMP six years ago as the senior NCO for the Southeast District based at the Hampton detachment.
Following retirement, he continued to work sharing his extensive experience and knowledge with various provincial government departments including the Residential Tenancies Tribunal and the Department of Justice.
A Facebook post from Kennebecasis regional police said the new chief is a longtime resident of this area who “knows our communities very well.”
Gourdeau starts his new job on Friday. He will succeed Wayne Gallant, who announced his retirement earlier this year.
