The Canadian Red Cross has job openings in New Brunswick providing support to Public Health teams working at nursing homes experiencing COVID-19 outbreaks.
Provincial director Bill Lawlor said they want to hire about 200 casual workers, most of them as Emergency Care Workers.
“We are currently in supporting PROMT teams at the Drew Nursing Home in Sackville. We are looking to build our capacity to respond to further outbreaks when they occur,” Lawlor said.
Lawlor described some of the duties of an Emergency Care Worker.
“Spending time with the residents, helping to deliver the meals to their room, making sure they get and walk around depending on what their needs are so accompanying them throughout the facility,” Lawlor said.
Emergency Care Workers who have to leave home for their work would have accommodation, meals and travel expenses covered.
Applicants must be fully vaccinated to work in the long-term care environment. Being able to speak French would be an asset but is not required.
