The search for a missing 14-year-old Bathurst girl has been “temporarily paused” due to the start of moose hunting season, according to the Bathurst Police Force.
Searches in the Middle River area are on hold from Tuesday until Saturday when moose hunting season concludes.
“The safety of the public and everyone involved in the search is paramount. The search efforts will resume after moose hunting is over,” the police said in a Facebook post.
14-year-old Madison Roy-Boudreau was last seen getting into a grey Ford Ranger on the morning of May 11.
Investigators later located and seized the vehicle, but there was no sign of the teenage girl.
On August 11, the Bathurst Police Force announced the disappearance of Roy-Boudreau was considered a homicide investigation.
“We take this time to remind everyone that will be out in the woods to be vigilant and to call your local police agency if you stumble upon something out of the ordinary,” said the Bathurst Police Force.
